Functional Outcomes and Control Using Synchron BCI - Australia

ClinicalTrials.gov12/1/2025ยท12/01/25๐ŸŒ Australia

Summary

This study evaluates the Synchron Stentrode, an endovascular brain-computer interface that is implanted via the jugular vein rather than through open brain surgery. Participants with motor neurone disease (ALS) in Australia will be implanted with the Stentrode to assess its safety and ability to enable brain-controlled digital device operation.

Why it matters

The Stentrode's endovascular approach avoids the risks of open craniotomy, potentially making BCI technology accessible to a much broader patient population. Synchron is one of the most advanced BCI companies with prior clinical data.
