Directional Bilateral Thalamic Patterned Stimulation in Individuals with Essential Tremor

ClinicalTrials.gov3/22/2024ยท03/22/24๐ŸŒ Global

Summary

Population Size and Eligible Patients: The investigators aim to recruit 5 to 10 patients with tremors who have previously undergone Ventral Intermedius Deep Brain Stimulation (VIM-DBS) treatment but have experienced early or late loss of benefits. Additionally, the investigators will enroll ten patients with essential tremor who require VIM-DBS surgery.

Why it matters

This research addresses an important unmet clinical need in treating Essential Tremor through innovative neurotechnology approaches. The findings from this study could meaningfully advance patient care by providing rigorous clinical evidence for new therapeutic interventions. Successful results may ultimately lead to improved treatment guidelines, expanded access to care, and significantly better long-term outcomes for affected patients worldwide.
