Clinical Trial
Effectiveness of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation of the Default Mode Network to Improve Sleep
ClinicalTrials.gov10/1/2025ยท10/01/25๐ USA
Summary
This study evaluates whether repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) targeting the default mode network can improve sleep quality in adults with chronic insomnia. Participants will receive either active rTMS or sham stimulation over 10 sessions across 2 weeks.
Why it matters
Chronic insomnia affects approximately 10% of adults and is linked to cognitive decline, cardiovascular disease, and depression. If TMS of the default mode network proves effective for sleep, it could establish a new non-pharmacological treatment option.
