Ultrasonic Deep Brain Stimulation During Anesthetic Sedation

ClinicalTrials.gov8/10/2022ยท08/10/22๐ŸŒ USA

Summary

The purpose of this study is to see if mental functions take place during different levels of anesthesia. The researchers expect to gain a deeper understanding of mental function during different levels of anesthesia, and to evaluate if the use of ultrasonic brain stimulation accelerates return to consciousness. The study involves the use of Low-intensity focused ultrasound pulsation (LIFUP) and will assess clinical outcomes in participants with Mental Function.

Why it matters

This trial represents an important advancement in neurotechnology for treating Mental Function. If successful, the device-based intervention could provide a new therapeutic option for patients who have not responded adequately to conventional treatments or therapies. The study results may inform future regulatory approval pathways and establish clinical precedent that could benefit broader patient populations with similar conditions.
