Summary
The long-running BrainGate2 multi-site feasibility study continues enrolling ALS, brainstem stroke, and SCI patients at 5 US academic centers. Participants receive implanted Utah Array BCIs and participate in sessions using neural signals to control computers. Multiple BCI decoding algorithms are evaluated across participants.
Why it matters
BrainGate2 is the foundational academic BCI trial that has generated most of the scientific evidence underpinning commercial BCI development. Its ongoing enrollment allows algorithm development that will translate to commercial devices.
