Neuropixels 2.0 reveals population dynamics of human memory encoding
PubMed4/5/2026ยท04/05/26๐ USA
Summary
Using Neuropixels 2.0 probes in 12 neurosurgical patients, researchers recorded 4,819 neurons simultaneously across hippocampus, entorhinal cortex, and PFC during a spatial memory task, revealing a memory manifold geometry predictive of successful encoding.
Why it matters
A new record for simultaneous single-neuron recording in humans. The memory encoding geometry findings have direct implications for closed-loop memory augmentation BCIs.
