Ceribell point-of-care AI EEG versus conventional EEG: multicenter retrospective outcomes study in Neurocritical Care

PubMed7/23/2024ยท07/23/24๐ŸŒ USA

Summary

A multicenter retrospective study published in Neurocritical Care compared outcomes in ICU patients evaluated with Ceribell point-of-care AI EEG versus those evaluated with conventional EEG. Ceribell use was associated with significant reduction in length of ICU stay, fewer patients discharged with poor functional disability scores (modified Rankin Scale), and substantially faster door-to-EEG time. The study spans multiple academic and community hospital sites, providing evidence for Ceribell's real-world clinical impact beyond the academic settings where conventional EEG monitoring is most available.

Why it matters

Published outcomes data showing ICU LOS reduction from AI point-of-care EEG is commercially transformative โ€” hospital value analysis now shows Ceribell pays for itself through LOS reduction alone, before considering the clinical benefits of faster seizure detection. Combined with the $913 NTAP payment, Ceribell has effectively commoditized the ROI argument for hospital procurement committees.
