Clinical Trial
Phase II Adaptive Deep Brain Stimulation for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
ClinicalTrials.gov4/1/2021ยท04/01/21๐ USA
Summary
This study at Baylor College of Medicine uses the Summit RC+S responsive neurostimulator with ECoG paddle electrodes for adaptive closed-loop DBS in treatment-resistant OCD. Unlike conventional open-loop DBS, this system records brain activity and automatically adjusts stimulation delivery based on neural biomarkers.
Why it matters
Adaptive closed-loop DBS represents the next generation of neuromodulation technology, moving from fixed stimulation to personalized, brain-state-responsive therapy. For OCD, this could demonstrate that biomarker-driven stimulation is more effective than conventional DBS.
