Neurona Therapeutics NRTX-1001 shows zero serious adverse events in first 6 patients at 12 months
STAT News3/25/2026ยท03/25/26๐ USA
Summary
Neurona Therapeutics reported 12-month safety data from the first 6 patients in their Phase 1/2 NRTX-1001 interneuron cell therapy trial for drug-resistant focal epilepsy. No serious adverse events, tumor formation, or immunological reactions were observed. Two of six patients reported a greater than 50% seizure reduction at 12 months.
Why it matters
Clean 12-month safety data with preliminary efficacy signals in the first 6 patients is an excellent Phase 1 outcome for a cell therapy. Zero tumor formation is particularly important given the theoretical risk of iPSC-derived cell therapies.
