Psychiatry and Clinical Psychopharmacology11/8/2025ยท11/08/25๐ Europe
Summary
This systematic review evaluated 94 studies on interventional treatments for PTSD including 39 on TMS, 8 on IV ketamine, and 14 on MDMA-assisted therapy. RCTs demonstrated response rates of 12.5% to 80% for TMS and 50% to 87% for MDMA-assisted therapy. Most treatments were well tolerated with mild transient adverse effects.
Why it matters
PTSD affects millions and conventional treatments fail many patients. This review positions neuromodulation as a key component of interventional psychiatry, supporting expanded access to TMS and other emerging treatments for this debilitating condition.
