CraniUS Therapeutics Wins FDA Clearance for Its First Commercial Product, the CraniUS Plate

PRNewswire9/9/2026ยท3d ago๐ŸŒ USA

Summary

The FDA has cleared CraniUS Therapeutics' first product for sale in the US: the CraniUS Plate, a cranioplasty implant custom-made per patient to fix defects in the skull. Internally designated NeuroPASS 1, the plate is essentially the base hardware layer of a much bigger plan: the company intends to build on this same implant architecture over time, layering in brain-access hardware, onboard sensing, and eventually drug delivery that gets around the blood-brain barrier. None of those later capabilities are part of what's cleared today -- they remain investigational.

Why it matters

Clearance for the base structural implant is the regulatory foundation the rest of the NeuroPASS platform depends on -- future sensing and drug-delivery capabilities can now be developed as additions to an already-cleared device architecture, rather than needing to clear an entirely new device category from scratch.
