Weekly trajectories of antidepressant response to transcranial magnetic stimulation - A retrospective cohort analysis
Journal of Affective Disorders1/3/2026ยท01/03/26๐ Europe
Summary
This retrospective study of 56 patients examined weekly antidepressant response patterns during TMS treatment. A stepwise improvement pattern was observed, with each additional week of treatment increasing response and remission odds. Completion rate was 85.7% with large effect sizes on both depression scales used.
Why it matters
Understanding real-world response trajectories helps set patient expectations and optimize treatment duration. The findings support longer TMS courses for treatment-resistant depression and highlight the value of measurement-based care with multiple rating scales.
